Carry On Behind the Scenes

I shall now be cheerful ... and what more cheerful than the Carry Ons (well, unless we dwell on the relatively early deaths involved, but let's not.)

Icons taken from the stills galleries for Matron, Girls, At Your Convenience, Loving and Abroad, with random trivia from my recent listening to the commentaries. (Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Bernard Breslaw, Peter Butterworth, Jacki Piper, Richard O'Callaghan, Valerie Leon, Joan Sims, Hattie Jacques, Charles Hawtrey, Patsy Rowlands, Carol Hawkins, Sally Geeson, Julian Holloway, Bill Pertwee, Geoffrey Hughes, Imogen Hassall, Robin Askwith, Madeleine Smith, Margaret Nolan, Yutte Stensgaard, Valerie Shute, Mike Grady, Terry Scott, James Beck & also Gerald Thomas, Peter Rogers and Talbot Rothwell.)

Want, take, credit. No hotlinking.

50-54 are all actors whose one day cameos wound up on the cutting room floor, including Carry On regular Terry Scott (050, Convenience), unbelievably, Dad's Army actor James Beck (051, Loving), and (there's a familiar name!) Bill Pertwee (also cut from Convenience).

For the interested 007 is Peter Rogers (Producer), Gerald Thomas (Director) 012 & others, and 010 is Talbot Rothwell, who must have penned more double-entendres and puns than is good for anyone.

Plus, every film needed a publicity shot of Sid James talking to some sort of policeman or official. Apparently, judging by the stills.

The Carry On films have got to be the only time Bernard Bresslaw got to dress in drag. And they seemed to love making him do it!

I love that icon of Terry Scott gazing adoringly up at him. So funny! I've taken it and (you know what's coming) will credit you in my userpics. Thanks!
