31 Heyer Icons (& Birthday Wishes)!

Happy birthday to sallymn! I hope you have/had a lovely day and many happy returns! I've been working on these icons for a while, but decided to finish them today in your honour, knowing that you like icons, quotes and Ms Heyer's works. ;-)

I finally got around to reading one of Heyer's mystery novels and I loved it. These icons are timely and they look great, thank you!

Thank you! I have to say I do prefer her historical comedies, but some of the detective ones are v entertaining too. :-)

Not awake. Have to go feed cats. Will probably download some later. Am waffling on "Haunted by waistcoats", because where would one possibly use it? ;P You have a knack for that.

Thanks. i can't resist icons like that. They may not be useful, but they are amusing in their own right, so, that's okay.

You know, I want at least half of these. Waistcoats, Romantic, Queer Tale, it makes me feel sick.

I shall ponder, and snag one. Or two. But no more. I am resolved.

Thanks! :-)

I may have a memory stick with lots of icons on - those I've made, those that were so pretty... far too many to use at once, but handy to go back to when I need a change.

I see your resolve-face, though, yes.

These are delightful! I only wish I had occasions to declare to the internet that I am haunted by waistcoats.

Aww, these are cute, and the quotes are just perfect! I've snagged 1 (because I am, so often, undone), 5 (I'd hope someone would call me over that), 14 (it often happens), and 25 (who can fail to love Horry?). I'll credit you in my userpics, as always.

Thanks for sharing! ♥

Thank you! :-)

And she wrote a lot of Regency romantic comedies, which is what these are from. They're old now (last century!), but one of my comfort reads - very light and witty.

Oh I love them!! She really did have such a way with words, elegant and amusing, and the fonts and backgrounds you've used work so well...

And thankee for the birthday wishes!!!

Thank you! :-)

I was trying to think whether there was anything I could do, and remembered that these were approaching sufficient numbers to be a batch, so worked on finishing them in time. And, yes, she did indeed - very easy to find potential icon material!

I hope you had a wonderful day!

ETA: Oh, and the b7friday theme was also because I was thinking of you, too. ;-D

Yesss, more Heyer icons! Wonderful! I absolutely love your style with these, the ornate (but not unreadably ornate!) lettering and the colors. Classy. I've swiped about half and will be delighted to use and credit. Thanks!

I really like the icons (great colours, great use of the fonts) and I love the quotes themselves ♥

They make me want to try some of Heyer's books! I checked her wiki page, but she wrote so many, I'm not sure where to start XD Which one(s) would you recommand for a newbie? ♥

Thank you! I'm glad you liked them!

And obviously I don't know what sorts of things you tend to like, but these are all from her historical comedies, which I prefer to her detective books and her few straight historical novels. I also find that books written towards the middle (late 30s-early 60s) tend to be the better ones, but it's all down to individual taste, really.

Anyway, if you want a place to start, these are some of my favourites - Cotillion, The Grand Sophy, Frederica, Arabella, The Talisman Ring, Friday's Child, The Corinthian, The Quiet Gentleman, Sylvester, Sprig Muslin & The Unknown Ajax. I hope that helps!
